Brandi Brown
Brandi Brown has spent 26 years building community in Greater Houston creating programs, forging partnerships, and showing up for families that too often get left out of the conversation. Her work has always centered the people most impacted by inequity, particularly children and families in Southeast Houston who need enriching opportunities beyond the school day.
In March 2021, Brandi turned a question — who is bringing Houston's Black nonprofit leaders together? — into an answer. She founded Black Impact Houston as a space where Black-led organizations could stop working in isolation and start building collective power. She leads BIH not as a traditional executive, but as a convener and someone who creates the conditions for others to lead alongside her.

Our Thinking Team
Our Thinking Team is BIH's strategic planning circle. Under our sociocracy governance model, they keep an eye on the strategic framework, bring proposals to the full membership, and make sure every decision reflects the voices of the people it affects. Thinking Team membership rotates, which means leadership at BIH is always shared.
